This doorbell confuses anyone under the age of 60. It’s a milkglass handle that you turn, inside the house is this big brass bell which makes an enormous racket. I love it. The bell says N.F. Cone Patent Sep 8 1863. I think the painter might have missed a spot…LOL

In other news…my Mom & Dad bought this bed for me many years ago at an estate sale for $10. My Dad loaded it up onto the roof of his brand-new-to-him car and they drove it to NYC for me (1997?). He didn’t gauge how heavy it was versus how flimsy new cars are and dented his roof. OOPS.
Let’s just say this apple doesn’t fall far from that tree.
I love this bed. It’s so pretty. But…it’s a full size. It was fine when I was an innocent single gal (ok, who laughed!?!?) but now that I’m shackin’ up with the Fiance, we’re in a king size. My plan is to one day turn it into a bench for the bedroom.

Here’s some fun trivia…if you watch Pretty In Pink…Molly Ringwald’s bedroom has the entire set. She has the armoire and everything that matches this headboard. OK, it’s not a PERFECT match but it’s darn tootin’ similar. I email’d the set designer many years ago but she didn’t know where she had rented the pieces from.
Here’s a headboard that someone has already converted into a bench…

That bed (and bench) are soooo lovely, I am firing up the VCR – my Pretty in Pink on – gasp – VHS. I was just telling Josie yesterday that my entire teen beauty outlook came from watching Molly…but I never did dye my hair red.
Do not get rid of that VHS tape! The most of the subsequent dvd’s that came out have different music tracks. Damn licensors…
Love the Bench. Now I want a bench made out of a bed for my garden. The wheels are turning.
Look at the pink princess phone. P.I.P. an 80’s classic. It was on one of the Turner stations this weekend.
What a cool doorbell!
I think that headboard would look lovely as a bench!
There’s a guy from Hudson (I think)….Mohawk Studios, makes those benches. He’s at the Brooklyn Flea every Sunday and I think the price is in the $200’s.
