As I alluded to the other day, Mom found a church cookbook at our local junk store. The book(let) was assembled by the parishioners of the church directly across from my house. See…

You know who was especially excited about this recipe book? Silver/Sylvia. Tranny cats are big potluck fans. Betcha didn’t know that!

You can click into my FLICKR account to get bigger files to print. OK, without further adieu…a selection of old school church recipes from upstate New York:
The Best Sugar Cookies…

Soft Molasses Cookies (note: my Mom adds day old coffee to her version!!)…

Banana Cake (note all the Authors, do you think there was an *issue*??!?)…

Blueberry Fruit Cobbler (I think I went to high school with her son!)…

Pumpkin bread (and I think I went to school with her son too!)…

I know I said I was going to post recipes from that awesome church cookbook that Mom found, but that will have to wait till tomorrow.
Today we piled into a taxi…some of us held on for dear life…

We went to Manganaro’s on 9th Avenue and 37th Street. It’s an old world Italian deli in the front and amazing restaurant (counter service) in the back. OH MY GOD. Simply amazing. The best chicken parm I have had in my life. I can’t wait to go back. Don’t believe me? Believe Anthony Bourdain.

As if that wasn’t enough good food, we walked up 2 blocks and hit Cupcake Cafe. Yes, really. Those are my favorite cupcakes in all of NYC. The other cupcake places are pale imitations.
Total absolute food bliss today. Did I mention the Peroni?
Wait…there’s more…dinner tonight with Heidi & Laura. Super Awesome Foodie Day.

I am so in love with that ribbon. It’s about 2 inches wide and I think I scored about 3 yards. It’s delish. I need snaps…and you have to love that vintage packaging they came on.

More awesome old school coasters, Peter Pan Peanut Butter cookbook, zipper repair kit and quite possibly my favorite find today…an enormous box of Eaton’s stationery. You just aren’t a wasp from the Berkshires without a box of Eaton’s.

Mom picked up a really cool cookbook from 1982 that was assembled by the parishioners of the church across the street from our house. Will post pics and a few choice recipes tomorrow.

I’m iphone retarded, but I still managed to snap a pic of Mom with the new phone. A little grainy – but not too bad.

So much fun playing with Mom’s kitties. Super Gay Andy has been cuddling and Silver/Sylvia played Pounce-On-My-Feet-Under-The-Sheet for hours last night. Bliss. LOVE that dark spot on Silver/Sylvia’s nose. I want to rub it for good luck.

Off to the junk store this morning and then to Staples. Staples is next to PetSmart. Wonder if I can tempt the Fiance?

It’s still really bizarre to me to download the pictures from my camera and not have at least 3-4 Tal pictures in the load. Where are they? Where are the pictures? Then I remember. Then I get gloomy. It’s been a week. We started seeing ghosts yesterday. Fiance first in his office, me in the middle of the night last night. Woke up and was positive she was on my pillow. She wasn’t. Rough. Your mind plays tricks. Almost seventeen years of her padding around me. Feel like I’ve lost an arm. She was such a big part of our little family. She kept us in line. We’re all wonky and willy nilly without her. The place has gone down the tubes. I finally did the dishes…after a week. The pile, as I’m sure you can imagine was enormous.
Haven’t touched the sewing machine. Too depressing to use it without her getting in the way and causing chaos. Almost had the urge last night but couldn’t bring myself to haul the machine to my desk. Yesterday, the package arrived of hulls, lavendar & chamomile to make more heat therapy pillows.

I’ll get around to it eventually, till then not ready to fire up the machine without my co-pilot.

I’m working with Jessie, an uber-fabulous designer and code-understanding chickaroo – to relaunch my little corner of the blogosphere. Hoping to have everything up and clicking by March16th. The new site will have a lot more functionality, bells & whistles and will be much more user-friendly – not to mention kicking the overall design up a signifigant notch.
Here’s a sneak peek…I’m leaning towards the creamy tan. The peach was too feminine for me. I like the mint green too – but that read toooooo Martha Stewart for my tastes. The navy/red/brown were too dark.

The creamy tan looks AWESOME on my mac – but not as nice on the PC at the office. Granted everything always looks nicer on a Mac. Thoughts?
Lastly, if you have any suggestions for cool widgets/applications whatever that you’ve seen elsewhere that you’d like to suggest, please do so. I’m all ears…

The club (Blender Theater) we were in the other night for the Marcy Playground show had some really interesting elements in their downstairs space…
Upholstered walls! How cool…

Even the floor was cool…

Damn, I could go for a beer…
